About Book One

We all need a Pillow to lean on!

When 8-year-old Mick crosses the street and a stray dog saves his life by jumping in front of a car, their lives are changed forever. The stray dog is adopted by Mick’s family and they name him Pillow because he looks like a fluffy pillow. Mick finds a loyal friend always by his side to help him solve everyday problems. Pillow the furry white dog becomes a lifesaver!

Author Debora De Sant’Anna, a Canadian born in Brazil, wrote the Pillow the Dog stories based on the bedtime stories she would tell her children every night. During the pandemic, she finally decided to follow her passion to write children’s books in her home, which smells like dogs and children. “For me,” she says, “this is the scent of unconditional love.”

The Pillow stories are for every child who has ever experienced the love and affection of a pet, or who has ever imagined that love. A dog is a man’s best friend and can truly brighten everyday family life. Having a pet teaches children the values of responsibility, empathy and compassion. Pets can have a calming effect, and are a major contributor of happiness, and can give a tremendous boost to mental health.

Pick up this feel-good tale of unconditional love, kindness and friendship between a boy and his furry friend. You will not be disappointed.

I love love love your book! It is so endearing and sweet and kids can relate to them on issues that are relevant to them.   I love how you took small, little issues that are ‘big’ issues for kids

As a dog lover, I fell in love with Pillow immediately! Who wouldn't love a dog that saves your son from being hit by a car! I'm sure that children will be delighted and entertained by the cute, fluffy white Pillow and his young master Mick!
